Dados e informações são fundamentais para o poder público enfrentar a fome em uma cidade. Desde 2011 Nova York produz relatórios obedecendo a Local Law 52, referente aos alimentos. 

To amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to establishing reporting requirements regarding the production, processing, distribution and consumption of food in and for the city, and to repeal section 17-325.2 of the administrative code of the city of New York, relating to reports on green carts. (Local Law 52, 2011).
